GOJO Industries unveils new tools to help human resource professionals and building managers keep employees healthy. The PURELL® Workplace Wellness Implementation Support Program helps companies put an effective hand hygiene program into practice. The program includes an extensive communications tool kit that allows managers to effectively introduce and oversee the program. This minimizes administrative burden while helping to achieve desired office wellness goals.
The program puts PURELL Instant Hand Sanitizer on every employee's desk, and educates them about how germs spread and the importance of hand hygiene. As part of its commitment to workplace wellness, GOJO designed three special caddies for employees' desktops. One of the caddies has a contemporary design that can be customized with a company logo; another includes a personalized placeholder frame for photos; and the third one is an engaging and whimsical dispenser "pal" that is a popular conversation-starter that brings awareness to the program.
"We know that human resources and facility managers want to provide a safe and healthy workplace for their employees. Companies that adopt The PURELL Program for Workplace Wellness are delighted with the ease of implementation, because the planning, development and creative work is done for them in advance. They just have to help make the commitment to a healthier workplace, and we provide the tools to make it happen," according to Jeff Trattner, market development director for Workplace Wellness at GOJO.
Included in the Workplace Wellness Implementation Support Program are a number of helpful items.
- A Program Planning Guide identifies activities that should happen during each phase of the project.
- Pre-Launch support items are provided, including kick-off event ideas and themes, program opinion surveys, press releases, letters to department heads, and talking points for managers.
- For the Program Launch, such things as e-mails to employees, artwork for posters and bulletin board announcements, newsletter articles, and educational brochures are available.
- Ongoing Program Support tools are provided to participating companies to help them maintain the program's momentum, including hand hygiene contests, inclusions for employee handbooks, letters to employees about ongoing workplace wellness efforts, instructions on re-ordering PURELL refills, and more.
This program recognizes that changing behavior is not easy. But when it comes to health and hygiene in the workplace change is exactly what is required. Whether it is unique PURELL desktop holders or communications and implementation support tools, our program keeps wellbeing top of mind and helps employees understand why hand hygiene in the workplace is critical.
"Germs are typically spread by hands quickly and easily to co-workers and work surfaces," said Trattner. "The Workplace Wellness Implementation Support Program was introduced as a way to make it easy for facility and human resources managers to leverage the power of a healthy workforce."
The average desktop harbors over 10 million germs per square inch, according to a study conducted by the University of Arizona.1 Germs that may make people sick can remain active on hard surfaces for hours ... or even days. Everything people touch connects them to lots of other people -- and their germs. After they've touched something, people typically don't go to the restroom where the soap and water are to wash their hands. They are too busy at their desks - where the germs are -- to do that.
