Plastican will invest significant capital this year and next to increase production of its patented line of Twist & Lock easy-open rigid plastic containers for swimming pool chemicals, building products and a wide range of other industrial and consumer products. Because current and forecasted demand for the patented Twist & Lock system has grown dramatically since the line’s introduction in 2007, this new investment in 2009 and 2010 will provide new molds, machinery and ancillary equipment at multiple Plastican plants in order to offer the containers in more sizes and increase manufacturing capacity for existing sizes. Plastican anticipates a full range of sizes with the patented Twist & Lock closure system available by the 4th quarter of 2009.
Twist & Lock pails open with a push of a tab and a twist of the cover. Closing is even easier — just twisting the lid locks it in place. Technicians at Plastican’s R&D facility are finalizing technological enhancements to the system that will significantly increase the number of applications in industrial as well as consumer markets. This family of rigid packaging is fully compliant with all relevant UN requirements and with child-resistance and senior-friendly protocols.
Plastican offers four decorating/labeling options for Twist-and-Lock containers: offset printing, silk-screen printing, pressure-sensitive labels and the innovative heat transfer printing which provides photo-quality graphics and a bar-code scan rate of 100%. Plastican works closely with each customer to help choose the graphics and decorating process that best enhance the container’s visual appeal.
