Saving time and making more money are cornerstones for any successful business endeavor. These two concepts usually go hand-in-hand.
The idea is quite simple. If you save time during the work day, you have the opportunity to make more money. This opportunity presents itself in being able to provide more products and services, obtain more customers or offer better customer service.
However, everybody complains that they lack time. It is one of the most used explanations (excuses) for not getting jobs accomplished. The goal is to constantly find new ways to save time. This is not easy. You have to concentrate on the right areas that will accomplish this task and make you more profit.
Of course, customer service cannot be compromised. Keeping your existing customers happy is always a top priority. If you can learn your customers' expectations and consistently exceed them, you will gain for yourself a niche market. Your willingness to work extra hours, master a field by investing time and gain experience through failure, will pay off.
In this issue, we present several articles that deal with both time and money. Mike Burgelin, in his sales and marketing column, tells of a simple way that saves time and may lead to making more money. Mike says that building an e-mail address database of both customers and prospects can pay dividends.
Sending e-mails that are focused and informative provide another contact point with these clients. The goal of these e-mails is not to sell product but to make it easier when you have face-to-face or phone contact time. Mike gives his ideas on what these e-mails can contain to succeed.
The article "Scrub and Recoat" has another take on the annual spring cleaning tradition of stripping floors. With today's technology, the time-consuming, difficult task of floor stripping may not be necessary after every winter. Instead, a dedicated, quarterly floor cleaning plan may suffice.
Benjamin Franklin coined the term "Time is Money" in a letter to a young man over 250 years ago. While still true today, we can buy more money with time than we can buy time with money.
